About the collection
Alrik Swagerman (1977) lives in Scheveningen, with his partner and two daughters, at walking distance of the beach. In his twenties, Alrik spent a lot of time on photography and surfing waves at home and in exotic places. Once he became a father free time became scarce. To be able to keep creating personal work he decided to bring along his camera when checking the swell.
While observing the movements of the ocean, Alrik also focussed his lens on gradients and transformations in light and sky. Exploring these nature phenomena attentively, led to the collection of photographs titled ‘luchtig’. Alrik has been searching for abstraction and intuitively played with composition, colour variations and gradients.
The photographs of the sky and horizon radiate light and space. The elements are a very dynamic piece of art, and the same composition is never to be seen twice. Alrik has taken the photographs mainly in his hometown Scheveningen, The Netherlands. The collection of photographs is still growing. The selection on the website and in the catalogue will change over time.
The photographs are available in editions, from 150 centimetres wide or high to 20 centimetres. The works are framed, made out of solid walnut wood. Works from the collection can be ordered directly at this shop. Feel free to contact Alrik Swagerman to discuss your wishes and orders through studio@alrikswagerman.com
